This “classic six” uptown apartment has great bones but the owner wanted to bring in a more feminine, global look conducive to relaxed entertaining. The foyer now welcomes guests with a playful, English botanical wallpaper paired with an ornate French console table and abstract artwork. In the living room, I added hand-crafted Moroccan mosaic tiles around the fireplace and rejuvenated her vintage American and Moorish chairs with updated fabrics. The custom made curtains, pillows, and lampshades add patterned, African flair against the modern sofas and rug. Because the client sometimes works from home, I incorporated a new workspace facing the windows to allow her to better enjoy the room and her view. And for casual entertaining, the flexible, six-piece coffee table allows for many configurations around the room and the desk can be shifted over for use as a buffet. (AtticFirePhotography)
